CN NEWS
Hi All,
Just recovering from Fri nights outing (what do ya
mean ya didn't miss me) quick thanks to Danath, who
stood in last minute to cover for me, for then only to
have a bit of a nightmare with many of the entries
vanishing (I didn't pay em,honest!) not yet sure if this
was down to crashes or newbies..

Just on that subject i'm looking to to get as much info
as possible on the main issues of lag/crashing etc
which i can then send to wp for them to look into it..
So what i need from you :- types of problems your
having, modem your using, client either old one with
patch, or complete new download. Have you tried
reinstalling duke to see if that helps..

I'll be honest - when i play old duke players it runs no
slower than old Wireplay, the only time it seems to lag,
is when there are people on I don't know..so there must be
something different between their setup and mine..
So please make time to reply to me so we can see if
this problem can be sorted...Dukes not dead just yet..

PCGAMERS QUOTE OF THE MONTH
You all probably know by now how I really enjoy reading
the latest mags, especially the Wireplay sections for a few
reasons...(1) in 12 months they've never mentioned Club
Nukem and even ran a tips guide without contacting
me :) and (2) PCGamer seems to show some really strange
games that apparently run on wireplay..This month for
example we have SHOCK FORCE..eh??!! Never heard
of it and is supposidly a futuristic Wargasm...and costs
£5 a month to play..

I have slated them somewhat in the past but after the
quote from the Wireplay charts section the wife read
to me while in the car coming back from Hanley this says
it all :)

"Quake's fall from grace continues,to the point were
people would now prefer to play DUKE NUKEM.
Oh..the ignominy"

this refers to quake dropping to 6th place just in front
of duke on the wp chart

hehehehe can't wait to put this on the quake board :)
just in case your interested Ignominy means:-disgrace
Oh yeah I admit it I had to look it up :) these journalists
why dont they use normal words ...

WHITE GOLDS MISTAKE
no not marrying me as she may have you think
Oh don't ya love it when someone else makes a
mistake and it don't involve Copster.. :) Last week
while writing up the report for a tourney White Gold
somehow managed to make a mistake (tut tut) and
missed out the name of one of the finalists in the
tourney top 5 list. I would like to correct it on her
behalf, that infact Clawfinger came 2nd and not Bad
Boy as stated...oooh ya cant get the staff :)

TIBB NEEDS OUR HELP
Just recieved this message from Tibb and he and
Duke need our help....got 5 mins free then then
read this and please support :-

Hi. You may have heard of the game WW2GI that
was made by the NAM team. If you visit
http://www.saettler.com/WW2GI , you will see that
Matt Saettler has added engine effects that give
the .con files infinite more power. A list of the
changes is given at that site. Anyway, I want to
make those changes available in normal Duke,
both versions, via a file patch. Matt said he'd
do it for free, but we still need George Broussard's
approval. He's the prez. of 3drealms.

Do you want this patch to go through? It would
let you choose a different load screen for each
level, so you can add mission breifings. You
can change the clip size, shot type, weapon #,
and anything else. This would, of course be
the ultimate. If you want the patch, then please
email Mr. Broussard at mailto:
[email protected]
saying that you want the file patch. Please
mention my name, so he'll know what you're talking
about. Also say some reasons why you want it.

It would also help me if you would mail this
exact message to everyone else you think could
possibly be interested. Then the patch might be
made. Without support, it will fall through.

Thanks!

List of some of the changes:

Different load for each mission
Event(like aim up, down...)
Weapon shot type
weapon #
weapon clipsize
alt. weapons
ammo check
lots more I can't remember now, so look at the
above link!

please tell everyone you can about the patch, and
tell them to mail Mr. Broussard in support of it.
Think of this like a didorganized online petition :)"

BAD BOY-the updated interview
Badboy was one of the first people I interviewed
for the newsletter and when he asked to be
re-interviewed I thought it might be interesting to
see what a difference a year makes in somebodys
life.

Badboy is now 18 and located in Somerset, and
whereas a year ago he was working he is now
a full time student studying IT and maths. His fav
tv programe is currently TFI Friday and his fav
actor Will Smith. A year ago BB was interested
in stock car racing and playing the electrical guitar,
and although his interest in racing is still there the
guitar as been replaced by clubbing and girls :)

His ambitions for the future are to get a great job
with computers, a good stock car and road car,
and a wife who doesn,t mind him going racing
and will supply him with 2, 3 or even 4 kids.

His first console was a ninetendo alongside a
copy of Mario, he still rates Destruction Derby
and Duke in his alltime fav games although
Quake 11 as been added to the list, and his
system as been upgraded from the p133 he
had to an p11 366 with 64 megs of ram and
a voodoo 11.

Badboy (his name was taken off a stock car),
used to spend 20 hours a week online but as
cut this down to 10 because of the £500 phone
bills, 12 months ago he rated Prof Wardon as
the best Duke player, and he is still in the running
(he,s back online BB) but he also rates Moogz.
He finally swapped to mouse control and he
attributes this to his recent upturn in his tourney
performances.

He likes wp because you get to meet and beat
loads of people, but dislikes the idiots who spoil
it for others such as hackers and peeps who
come on under aliases (no names were stated,
but BB says you know who he is on about). He
would like to see an improvement in the wp
software.

Thanks go to BB for his continuing support for
the Duke tourneys in total so far he as entered
some 47.

Check out his homepage at

SPORT

TOURNAMENT RESULTS FOR WED 12TH MAY

I chose Freeway for tonights level which got the usual
amount of complaints. There were two close ties in
the first round Ds Moogz beat Reb coco 2 - 0 and
G String beat Greens 2 - 1, in the only other tie
affected by the time limit Keds beat Moonboots
4 - 0. All the rest won their games easily they were
Pure Hoopey, Smoke 76, Azzkiker, Clawfinger,
Ice T and Kilroy they beat Danath, Phslicer,
Striker as2, Sir c Mayhew and Funkydooo.

Smoke 76 was promptly rewarded for coming back
from the first round quickly be getting and losing to
Azzkiker 7 - 1, Clawfinger beat Keds 7 - 0 while
Kilroy and G String both beat their opps by 7 - -1
they were Hoopey and Ice T, Moogz got a bye.

There was a surprise result in the 3rd Clawfinger
beat Azzkiker 7 - 6, in the only other game Moogz
had no such probs beating G String 7 - -2, Kilroy
got a bye.

This meant there was a 3 player thingy for the first
time in ages the result was Moogz 10, Clawfinger
7 and Kilroy 1.

As they couldnt agree on the final level they left
the choice up to me :) Rabid Transit a fav of mine
from years ago was the one I picked. The game
was over in less than 15 mins with the usual
suicides ruling the day Clawfinger quit when
Ds Moogz was winning 1 - -4 well done to both.

TOP 5 FOR WEDNESDAY

1 DS MOOGZ
2 CLAWFINGER
3 KILROY
4 AZZKIKER
5 G STRING

Guest Tourney Hosted by DANATH
14/5/99

If you thought wednesday's tourney was bad, this
is really going to knock your socks off. Although
18 people turned up and were given matches,
only 8 of them were played; makes you think doesn't
it. RLD was the round 1 level, so looking
at my scribbled piece of paper, I'll try to make
some sense. Some people are going to say
"Why don't you just invalidate the whole tourney??"

The only match affected by the time limit was
Smoke DXS winning against PHslicer 5 - 1.
Daisi Berkowitz got the best win, beating DJ Derrique
10 -2, DJ nike who hadn't been around for a while,
went through 5 - 4 after Pure Hoppey quit,
K1lroy went through 9 - 1 after Keds crashed,
and Pace beat Cosmos 10 - 2 Nazarath got a
bye, after Goldeneye 007 pulled out with control
problems. Everyone else that came, just
disappeared. They were Hell Bound, Kickazz,
Azzkicker, DS Moogz, Wee Mousey4 and
Seven.

Smoke had to go in the next round(don't know
why) Nazarath also disapeared. But the ones
that stayed K1lroy beat Daisi Berkowitz 6 -1
after time, and DJ nike's luck ran out after
losing to Pace 7 - 2

It was the final (and so quick too) K1lroy and Pace.
They went back to RLD to settle some differences
, and at the same time K1lroy was in a rush,
incase his parents came back, and caught him
on the net. The Gods must've heard him though,
and kept his parents away for 16 minutes, while
he beat Pace 10 - 1

The top 5 people for 14/5/99

1. K1lroy
2. Pace
3. Nazarath
4. Daisi Berkowitz
5. Smoke

I'll bet you £10 that Cop never asks
me to do another tourney ever again
